Terms of business

These terms apply to every quotation, order and installation by Halve Cost (“we”, “us”). Placing an order means you accept them. Where you are a consumer rather than a business, your statutory rights are not affected.

1. Quotations

• Site surveys and written quotations are free of charge and without obligation.
• Quotations are valid for 60 days from the date issued and are based on the specification, drawings and site conditions recorded at survey.
• Prices exclude VAT unless stated. Advertisement consent fees payable to a local authority are passed on at cost.

2. Orders and payment

• An order is confirmed when you sign off the visuals and specification and pay the deposit stated on the quotation (normally 50%).
• The balance is due on completion of installation, or on dispatch for supply-only orders, within 14 days of invoice unless a trade account has been agreed.
• We may charge statutory interest and compensation on late payment under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.

3. Design and approval

Manufacture begins only after you approve the final artwork and specification. Changes after approval may incur additional cost and extend the programme. You are responsible for the accuracy of any text, logos and brand assets you supply and for your right to use them.

4. Planning and consents

We will advise whether advertisement consent or landlord approval is likely to be required and can prepare and submit applications on your behalf. Obtaining consent remains your responsibility, and lead times quoted exclude the authority's determination period.

5. Installation

• You will provide safe access, a power supply where illumination is specified, and confirmation that fixing into the building is permitted.
• If an installation cannot proceed on the agreed date for reasons within your control, a reasonable abortive-visit charge may apply.
• Our installers hold IPAF and PASMA certification and work under our risk assessments and method statements, copies of which are available on request.

6. Warranty

Signage we manufacture and install carries a 5-year warranty covering materials, manufacture, illumination components and installation workmanship. The warranty excludes damage caused by accident, vandalism, weather events beyond the design standard, alterations by others, and normal fading of printed media beyond the manufacturer's stated life. We will repair or replace at our discretion.

7. Liability

We hold public liability insurance of £10 million and will make certificates available on request. Our liability for any claim is limited to the value of the order concerned, except for death, personal injury or fraud, for which no limit applies. We are not liable for loss of profit or indirect loss.

8. Cancellation

Orders may be cancelled free of charge before artwork approval. After approval, cancellation charges reflect materials purchased and work completed. Business customers' deposits are non-refundable after manufacture has started.

9. General
