Halve Cost (“we”, “us”) is the data controller for the personal information collected through halvecost.com. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. It is written to meet the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

What we collect

• Quote requests and contact forms: your name, company, email address, phone number, site postcode and anything you tell us about your project.
• Assistant conversations: the messages you type into the on-site assistant. Do not share payment details or other sensitive information in the chat.
• Technical data: our hosting provider records standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) to keep the site secure and available.

Why we use it

• To prepare your quote, arrange a site survey and reply to your enquiry (performance of a contract, or steps taken at your request before one).
• To keep the website secure and to prevent abuse of our forms (legitimate interests).
• To keep business records we are legally required to keep (legal obligation).

We do not sell your information and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

Who we share it with

Your enquiry is delivered to our team by a transactional email service operated for us by WriteNow Agency. The on-site assistant uses an AI language model provider to generate answers; only the text of the conversation is sent, and it is not used to train the provider's models. Our regional survey teams receive the details needed to visit your site. All providers act under contract and only on our instructions.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not become a project are deleted within 24 months. Project records are kept for 6 years after completion to meet warranty, accounting and legal requirements. Assistant conversations are kept for up to 90 days for quality review.

Cookies

halvecost.com does not set advertising or analytics cookies. The assistant uses your browser's session storage to keep the conversation visible while the tab is open; it is cleared when you close the tab and never leaves your device.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, object to our use of it, or ask us to restrict it. If you are unhappy with our response you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

We will post any changes to this policy on this page and update the date at the top.
